In December 2019, Manel Mallat was diagnosed with lupus, an autoimmune disease, after an episode of optic neuritis that made her partially lose her eye sight.
In an incredible series of unfortunate events, less than a year later, Manel started her battle with sinus cancer including 3 surgeries and 30 radiation sessions among others. On her last day of radiotherapy, she publicly announced her silent struggle with the disease in an Instagram post revealing the scars of her treatment, her victory and her strong desire to raise awareness : “Today I close this door, leaving behind me one of the most challenging chapters of my life. To every person struggling in silence; I hear you, I feel you and I dedicate this to you”.
Despite these rough times, she managed to walk her path through music, releasing collaborations with various artists. Quickly after her recovery, Manel started working on her “come back track” channelling all her musical influences and inspirations into an uplifting track which allowed her to find her musical path and set her identity in the local and regional Indie/Pop scene.
